We are a Berlin-based social startup helping people increase their well-being levels with a holistic science-based program and game. Workout for Happiness (W4H) candidates work on all life areas (physical, mental, social) and understand that the best way to change the world is to become happier, healthier and thus, more compassionate versions of themselves.
As a young startup, we are looking for purpose-driven student interns (m/f/d) who are interested in our mission of making this world a happier place!
be part of the family
As an intern at W4H, you will:
Work on a product with a purpose: our sole aim is to help change the world for the better.
Take on an important role in planning a crowdfunding campaign that will be launched in the next few months.
Explore the dynamic Berlin startup industry.
Be part of our international team compound by passionate and open-minded people who believe in this mission.
Work hand-in-hand with the company’s founders in a relaxed environment with open communication with all members.
Take on real responsibility in different intriguing challenges that will develop your knowledge and your “get-things-done” attitude.
The role is initially a 3-6 month unpaid student internship with the possibility of future development.
what you will bring along
Commitment to making this world a better place and a strong understanding of the importance of giving back.
Studies in a related field for the relevant position; enrollment at end of bachelor, or later. You must be enrolled as a student during the entire duration of the internship.
Interest for (and ideally, experience in) the well-being industry – happiness, health, nutrition, meditation, sports.
Fluent English and outstanding communication skills (both verbal and written).
Availability to live in beautiful and multicultural Berlin during the duration of the internship.
This is a very important time in our young company’s history. We launched our app “wellyou – be happy!” on March 10, 2020. One month later, we launched “wellyou in hard times” to help people cope and maintain their well-being during self-isolation.
There is a lot to do so if you join our team, we really need your full commitment. Berlin is an amazing international city that offers something for everyone – parks, museums, cafés, yoga studios on every corner – but it’s also known for its party scene. If you’re here to experience Berlin’s nightlife, that’s cool, we don’t judge, but then we’re not the right match for each other. If the following things are your priority – personal growth and development, leaving a healthy lifestyle, learning, contributing to a bigger cause, honing your character and becoming a kinder, more compassionate and giving person – then we welcome you to apply; we would be very happy to meet you.
Our team is full of people who believe in our mission to make this world a happier place. We understand that we are all imperfect human beings for whom growth and learning is a never-ending journey. How can we convince our users to work on themselves – physically, mentally, socially – if we don’t do it ourselves? Therefore, it is important that you are an open-minded and self-reflective person who has an itch to make a positive impact in this world. What’s more, we are more than just a company team, we are like a small family! We cook and eat lunches together, we go on staff retreats and do yoga/work out together. We are always looking to expand our work-family tree with like-minded people.
If you share our vision of making this world a happier place, are an open-minded, warm-hearted person who cares about others and takes responsibility for your physical, mental, and social health, then please apply online for the position you’re most suited for with your CV and cover letter. If our ears perk up, we will be in touch with a Calendly link for you to choose a time slot for an interview with Adam and Amelia.
Anytime. Whether you’re looking for something now or in a few weeks, we are always interested in meeting people who share our values and there will never be a lack of things to do in a startup! After we’ve met in person/on Skype and gotten to know each other, you will take a couple days to consider whether this opportunity is what you’re looking for. At the same time, we reflect on whether you’re the right fit for our company and culture. Following a positive answer from both sides and a small writing exercise to get a sense for how you would speak to our users, you can start immediately and dive right into the startup life.
The short answer is: unfortunately, not at the moment. The long answer is: we have bootstrapped for a long time, working from our savings and working side jobs, not taking external funding from investors, all to protect our users’ sensitive data that is generated by our program.
However, what we cannot compensate financially, we give back in other ways: 1) Experience and a chance to voice your opinion: the last thing you’ll be doing is making photo copies and maintaining excel sheets. We want you to create, brainstorm, strategize, and execute with the founders; 2) We give thorough feedback rounds once a month: where we help you identify your strengths and areas of improvement on both the professional and personal levels so that you can learn and grow; 3) you become part of a second family and Berlin becomes your second home: we care for each other like a family should.
A standard working week is 37.5 hours, meaning we work from Monday to Friday, 7.5 hours/day. Except the founders; they work all the time, as they should (but they love it)!
Speaking from experience, we prefer applicants who are available full-time and can completely dedicate their time towards this internship. In an early-stage startup like ours, things move and situations change really fast and the workload can be really demanding. The last thing we want is for someone to feel overwhelmed because they can’t be fully present. But, exceptions can always be made under certain circumstances so, let’s talk!
Preferably, yes. However, the person behind the CV is so much more important to us than the CV itself. If you’re really passionate about making a positive impact on this world and you resonate with the values of our company, you are more than welcome to apply.
Yes, you can! We have hosted numerous students through the Erasmus program, of which we are big fans. Please contact your university’s Erasmus representative to learn more about the application process.
